Do sheep affect distribution and habitat of Asian Houbara Chlamydotis macqueenii?

Oct 25, 2020

The response of Asian Houbara to livestock was examined across 14,500 km2 of the Kyzylkum Desert. Incidence and abundance on distance transects and point counts were not affected by sheep density. Sheep had only a slight influence on shrub desert vegetation structure. Sheep grazing has not degraded desert habitats for Asian Houbara in this region.
